Teaching in a lab is a unique experience. Many programs are technical and offer hands on experience working with software and apps, and time is spent developing solutions for real world problems.

Take a look at some of the labs we have on campus. Labs typically are either:

Tips for Pre-Configured Labs

Notice Sight Lines

Monitors take up a lot of space, and teaching in a lab often means being aware of the limitations of sight lines for students.

Use Faronics Insight to share your screen directly to student monitors. Students will be able to watch your actions directly on the screen in front of them, rather than by turning to watch the projected screen.

Use Kinaesthetic Approaches

Many labs have touch responsive screens on the podiums or student computers. Rather than using the mouse, use these screens to make selections. If you’re in a room with Wi-Fi Source, consider using a tablet or touch based laptop to connect to the projector and demonstrate. If you’re in a room with an interactive projector, try doing live demonstration, rather than the mouse and monitor at the podium.

BYOD Labs

In a BYOD lab, you’ll soon be able to use a cloud based sharing and monitoring tool. Stay tuned for details.
