Student feedback is an essential component of our continuous improvement process.
Student Feedback, Quality Engagement, Conestoga College
Conestoga College is committed to continuous improvement processes for teaching. The Student Appraisal of Teaching (SAT) and Early Course Check-In (ECC) provide faculty with student feedback for continuous improvement.
Student Appraisal of Teaching
The SAT is a survey process used for obtaining feedback from students to enhance the performance of teaching at Conestoga. The Full-SAT was developed in 2014 as part of a multi-college Ministry-funded project. There are standard questions as well as an open-ended comment box. The survey is administered electronically (by email) before the course ends. Faculty access the SAT results for their course after the course ends (using a dashboard called Blue. A link will be emailed to faculty).
Chairs decide which courses will receive SAT surveys. Not all courses are surveyed each term. Read more about the Student Appraisal of Teaching Procedure.
Early Course Check-In
The ECC is a short version of the full SAT form and is normally delivered in Week 5. Feedback from the ECC, which is administered in the first half of the semester, enables you to gain insight into students’ experiences and make any adjustments for the remainder of the course.
- the ECC may be delivered to a course in any mode: in-person, hybrid, or asynchronous.
- There are several personalization options, allowing you to gauge perceptions for your class over time in areas that interest you.
- Students receive an invitation by email and in eConestoga to complete the ECC.
