Mandatory Courses for Faculty
Human Resources at Conestoga requires that all part-time and full-time faculty complete these four mandatory courses prior to the end of their first semester of teaching, or, preferably, prior to starting. If possible, please attend “Teaching and Services at Conestoga” (EDEV0670) and “Conestoga’s LMS and Technologies for Teaching” (EDEV0660) prior to beginning to teach. Both these courses are on demand for your convenience, so you can complete them during any two-week period throughout the semester.
The remaining courses, “Active Learning Leading to Assessment at Conestoga” (EDEV0650) and “Understanding Outcomes-Based Education and Curriculum at Conestoga” (EDEV0640) are offered during various two-week periods in a semester. Please see below for an updated schedule.
This micro-credential allows you to engage with colleagues as you learn about Conestoga, our Learning Management System (LMS), and what is expected as you teach and assess in our active, outcomes-based courses. Each of these credits counts towards a Certificate in Post-Secondary Teaching.
Part-time faculty are paid $40/hour for each hour (6 hours) dedicated to completing the mandatory EDEV courses. Once a month, contracts will be created to provide compensation for the completion of courses from the prior month. Upon your approval of the contract, the funds will appear on your pay stub within a month. To be paid the training rate, you must attend all hours of a course and/or show evidence of completing the work for all hours. Your professor will explain expectations.
Notes: (1) You will only be paid for taking a mandatory course once. (2) There is no payment for attending other EDEV micro-credential courses; however, you can take courses for free as a Conestoga employee and, upon passing, obtain a credit towards a micro-credential and the Post-Secondary Teaching Certificate. (3) Support staff and administrators teaching part-time at Conestoga and taking the mandatory courses or any EDV workshops outside their typical work hours are eligible for the $40/hour.
