This workshop will introduce participants to a critical disability framework and disability history and activism in Canada. We will explore the differences between physical and cognitive disabilities; neurodiversity; and mental illness/ madness and the importance of applying a social rather than a medical model to these conversations. We will also identify specific challenges related to differences between high school and post-secondary accommodation processes and discuss practical ways that Conestoga College supports students with disabilities.
