While many people believe that reading is a dying art among younger generations, current research demonstrates the opposite. Young adults below 30 are more likely to read books on a weekly basis, for either pleasure or learning, than their older counterparts.

Digital books are becoming the new normal, as nearly 40% of these readers report reading eBooks (and that was in 2013). They are accessible on all devices, in all geographic locations, and often cost less than paperback equivalents. Readers are most likely to read on a phone or a laptop.

While our attitudes about reading are largely staying the same, our behaviours are shifting immensely. We may need to rethink how we ask learners to engage in reading on devices. These teaching tips aim to help you do this.
